What to Expect When You Hire a Commercial Drywall Contractor

Scope review and quoting

It starts with drawings and specifications. We review the wall types, ceiling schedules, fire-rated assemblies and finish levels, then quote the scope precisely. A quote that skips this step is a quote that will change later.

Layout and framing

Layout is set from the architectural drawings, then steel studs are installed with the correct track, deflection detailing and backing for anything to be mounted on the wall later. Getting backing right at this stage saves expensive rework.

Insulation and rough-in coordination

Insulation goes in once mechanical and electrical rough-in is complete and inspected. Coordinating with those trades in the right sequence is the difference between a smooth job and reopening finished walls.

Boarding and finishing

Gypsum board is hung, taped and finished to the specified level. Fire-rated assemblies are boarded per the tested assembly listing — there is no room for improvisation on a rated wall.

Deficiency walk and closeout

Near completion we walk the site with the general contractor, list deficiencies and correct them. A contractor who handles this stage properly is one you can hand the next project to.
